If there is one toy that EVERY cat guardian should have in their kitty toy box, it is Da Bird! This wonderful feather on a fishing pole is so enticing that I have not met a cat yet who isn't in love with it. From what I understand this aerodynamic fishing pole was and maybe still is handmade by a gal in Michigan. It is superior to anything else you see on the market in terms of how it is made and the materials used. It truly mimics a bird and it will totally captivate your cat. And after your cat has 'captured' it enough times that the bird begins to shrink into oblivion, you can buy replacement feathers rather than the entire pole. That being said, this is true unless you have a cat like my Sadie, who also loved to chew on the nylon string!
I bought Da Bird at a local pet shop in Lincolnwood, called the Animal Store. I have since found it at the Pet Supplies Plus stores. And if leaving the house isn't on your agenda you can find it on the web as well. Da Bird cost about $6.00 +/- at Pet Supplies Plus. The Animal Store on Touhy in Lincolnwood charges more. Both are cheaper than paying for shipping from Amazon, etc.
I just had the pleasure of cat sitting this pretty kitty, Kishmish this week. Above are a few photos I took today on our visit as she met Da Bird for the first time.
Get one for your feline friend. I can assure you that your kitty will be thrilled and so will you!
