Skyla was one of the most amazing dogs. It was hard to imagine she was only 11 months old. She was calm, quiet and even a little shy at first. And as everyone from her Mom to the neighbros would attest, Skyla did not know she was a schnauzer. In fact, the only signs she showed of being a terrier was her love of squirrels. Skyla didn't even seem to know that Annie was a kitty. But, then again, this was the first time that Skyla met a cat! Skyla came nose to nose to Annie which didn't make Annie too thrilled. But it was just Sklya's curiosity that brought them so close.
Skyla liked to run and play as any dog her age would love. But she was also perfectly content just to follow me around the house, lay near my feet as I sat at my computer or sit on the couch and watch TV with me. Come night time, Skyla was quite happy to be in bed with me, resting her chin on my ankle. So much for her dog bed! I don't think she used it even once during her visit!
When Skyla went out on our walks, she would find a stick and proudly carry it along for the ride. She made me laugh as I wondered if her ancestry included a few retrievers! Then when we rested, Skyla loved to chew that stick into smithereens.
Having Skyla spend the weekend with us I got a good opportunity to know this little gal. She sure was special as you told me, Kelly & Dave. But of all the things you told me, the one thing that fascinates me most is Skyla and her bell. Sklya's parents taught Skyla to ring the bell when it is time for her "to go outside." Without question, that is exactly what happened. Skyla would swipe her paw on the bell and made it know she needed to take a walk. I was fascinated at her ability to do this. I thought this was a great trick that her parents took the time to show her.
It goes without saying that Skyla was not only a most unusual and sweet dog but a very smart one as well. What a pleasure it was to have her company. I hope she comes back soon. Who knows, maybe next time she will be able to play a musical instrument. I wouldn't be surprised. But if you do teach this to her Kelly, just have her leave the tuba at home!
