With the help of Cook County’s Spay/Neuter rebate, Tree House is offering 100 FREE spay/neuter packages for cats and kittens in the Chicagoland area beginning February 1st. Each participating household can receive 2 free spay/neuter packages. Tree House encourages the public to not only spay/neuter their pets but to practice TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return), the only effective and humane way to manage feral cat colonies. With an estimated 700,000 stray and feral cats in Cook County, this has to be a priority if we are ever going to reduce these numbers.

Health Benefits

Spaying or neutering eliminates the possibility of uterine or ovarian cancer in females and testicular cancer in males. It also reduces the chance that domesticated cats will sneak outside, not only keeping them safe, but also preventing the contraction of other diseases. A spayed/neutered cat is also less likely to have temperament or behavioral problems. Most importantly, with millions of cats and kittens being euthanized in shelters every year, spaying and neutering all cats—domesticated and feral—will prevent the birth of more homeless kittens.

Tree House also offers a variety of community programs and informational publications to educate people on the importance of the human/animal bond. Our Feral Friends Program works to educate people on TNR and actively works to reduce the stray cat overpopulation problem. Tree House is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity and proud member of the Chicago Animal Shelter Alliance (CASA). All donations are fully tax-deductible. We do not accept any federal or state funding. Nearly all of our support comes from concerned and involved individuals like you.
